HAAF Supports Our Teachers and Our Schools

Alarmed by recent union losses in a Wisconsin teacher labor battle, thousands of organized workers marched through downtown Los Angeles on Saturday, vowing to fight a similar fate here in cash-strapped California.

A colorful sea of unity marched through the streets of Los Angeles in a multi-union march and rally to fight for our children's education and the teachers in our communities. LAUSD’s attacks on our community and our teachers, including massive layoffs, attacks on seniority, evaluations based on student test scores, giving away and reconstituting of school  has got to stop. It is our duty to let our voice be heard.

The rally had a turn out of over 13,000 teamsters/ union laborers and supporters. The Rally start in Downtown Los Angeles at the about 10:00 am and made several stops at the Luxe Hotel, Ralph's Grocery Store, and the Chase Bank Building before concluding at Pershing Square. There was representation of Union and Teamsters workers from several different cities (Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Chicago, Madison, Wisconsin, San Diego, and Orange. There was much support for the events that are taking place in Madison. The UTLA (United Teachers of Los Angeles) was the most represented at this current event. Also in attendance was the Teamsters Union 396 (coalition partners with LAANE).
